Key West

[OVERVIEW]

I do have a lot to say about Key West. I would highly recommend driving here from either Miami or Fort Lauderdale or wherever you are coming from. It is about a three hour drive from the Miami area but it is so worth it - especially if you rent a convertible. From the minute you get to Key Largo you will feel the stress melting away. This is a perfect example of how much our country has to offer. I really find this drive spectacular. Of course you can always fly into Key West from all over but it won’t be the same as driving along the beaches and seeing a little bit of all the keys on your way down to Key West. Between the energy of the environment and the scenery you can’t help but to be relaxed upon arrival.

This is a really charming little island. With lots of bars and restaurants as well as lots of water activities and sports. It is also a great place whether you’re gay or heterosexual. It has a lot to offer and everyone seems to get along just fine. Halloween in Key West is definitely something to see, I’ll let you discover what that means.  If you haven’t been here you ought to give it a try. It’s a magical little island with a lot to offer.

[SIGHTSEEING]

Walking around Key West is a sight in itself. I don’t believe there’s anything else like it in the U.S. However, there’s lots you can do:

• Snorkeling

• Walking on Duval Street and stopping at all these places along the way is super fun.

• Ernest Hemingway House

• Harry S. Truman Little White House

• Butterfly and Nature Conservatory

• Fort Zachary

• Key West Aquarium

• Key West lighthouse

• Southern Most Point Buoy

• Sunset at the pier

• Don’t forget you can rent a boat or a Catamaran and or also do a jet ski tour of the island. And you can also do a party boat cruise. Just saying…...

If you like driving and have a convertible while there drive the Keys to the Mainland! It takes a few hours one way, but it is an amazing experience driving from island to island with the ocean on either side of you. It's breathtaking!

[BARS]

Most bars are on Duval Street. You will have lots and lots to choose from no matter what you’re into. There’s also lots of places to have a snack and a drink or five by the marinas, which is spectacular. So go for a walk, meet some cool people and relax! Be sure to take advantage of the knowledge of the hotel staff. They did a phenomenal job of pointing me in the right direction based on what I was looking for and truthfully I probably would not have found the spots on my own!
